FAQ
Meat stockinette: frequently asked questions
Straight answers to what buyers ask us most.
All questions
What is meat stockinette?
Meat stockinette is a stretchy, tubular knitted fabric – usually cotton, polyester or a poly-cotton blend – that is pulled over a carcass or cut of meat. It protects the surface from dust, insects and handling contamination, reduces surface drying and weight loss in the chiller, and helps the carcass keep a clean, compact shape for transport and display.
What is a carcass bag?
A carcass bag is a knitted stockinette tube with one closed end, sized for a whole carcass, side or quarter. It is pulled over the carcass after dressing and stays on through chilling, storage and transport.
Why do slaughterhouses use stockinette?
To keep carcasses clean, reduce shrink (weight loss from surface drying), wick blood, and keep carcasses compact and presentable for grading, transport and sale.
Cotton or polyester stockinette: which should I choose?
Choose 100% cotton when absorbency and a natural fibre matter (fresh lamb and beef, blood and moisture wicking). Choose polyester or a poly-cotton blend when you need higher tensile strength, less lint and better performance in frozen storage or long export routes. Many buyers use poly-cotton as the balanced option.
How is stockinette sized?
By laid-flat width and cut length, matched to carcass weight and conformation. Send us your weight range and hanging method and we recommend a size.
Is stockinette reusable?
No. Meat stockinette is a single-use hygiene product and should be discarded after the carcass is broken down.
Is your stockinette Halal certified?
Yes. Our textiles are produced under Halal certification: no animal-derived sizing agents or prohibited substances are used, and processing aids are vegetable-based or synthetic. Certificate copies are sent with quotes on request.
What is your minimum order quantity?
We quote every order individually because width, material and format change the economics. Send us your carcass type and expected monthly volume and we will confirm the minimum for that specification in our quote, usually within 24 hours. Samples are free.
Can I get free samples?
Yes. We send free sample swatches and pieces worldwide by DHL or FedEx so your team can test fit, stretch and absorption on your own line before ordering.
How long does production and delivery take?
A full container load is typically produced in 10–14 business days from order confirmation. Transit time depends on the destination port. We ship FOB Istanbul, CIF your port or DAP your warehouse under Incoterms 2020.
Which payment terms do you accept?
Letter of Credit (L/C) and bank transfer (T/T). Terms for repeat buyers are agreed case by case.
Which countries do you ship to?
We ship worldwide and regularly serve Europe, the GCC and Middle East, and the Americas.
How is stockinette packed for shipping?
Rolls and bags are vacuum-compressed into bales and palletised. Compression reduces shipping volume and keeps the product sealed until it reaches your line.
